Sono Hanabira - English Patch - Complete!
I never gave much thought to what I would say when this time finally came. Even more than you, I wasn't even sure that it would ever make it this far.
But here is it - the long-long-looooong awaited English translation patch for Sono Hanabira:
The patch is in two parts: a graphics patch, and a script patch. You'll need both.
You'll need the the original game as well of course. Unlike most Japanese games, a downloadable edition can be easily purchased for less than $20 US from DLsite.com's completely-English store - here's a direct link. (No, these are not affiliate links.)
I guess in the end, I really don't have anything to say. So I shall let my work speak for me.
Well, one thing I guess: Thanks everybody - seriously. Good night.

It's working for me without applocale, though there are a couple little graphical errors in the text box. Just thought people would like to know.
I have to wonder how many marriage proposals the translator will get at this point.

I have to say I'm impressed with the way you handled the translation of this game. I've been enjoying it for about 35 mins, top notch stuff. I offer my congrats to you and your team, I'm sure it's been a hell of a ride.
If only the KimiNozo project could run this smoothly, it would truly be bliss. (If you ever want to take on the challenge of your life, feel free to join me on the project)

Great series despite it being Nukige. If you guys like the comedy and moe overload of this game you should try the next 2 which features different pairs. It's one of the few games agthworks really well with. I've already played the game but great job on the translation!

Just me or does it crash every time I go to a different window on W7?
Also, is there anyway to fix the gibberish on the window/text boxes? I remember in xp, all I had to do was change locale to Japan and everything was golden.
Other than those 2 issues, awesome release man.

OK... how I got it to run in Win7 x64 Enteprise, without changing to Japanese locale or even installing Windows XP Mode:
Install Applocale
Set Applocale to run as administrator
Set the ENG Sono Hana .exe to run under compatibility mode, Win XP SP3
Run Sono Hana under Applocale (Japanese of course)
Also using the nag patch and context menu to make things a little easier.

I can't say that I know much about Japanese but the voice and text seem to be completely different. Also I get an errormessage when Girl A and Girl B talk. The respective voice files seem to be missing.

@Barry, cool, that worked awesome. Some of the stuff is still in garbled text though, but I'll figure it out eventually.
@Chan, I know for sure applocale works, but I got so tired of using it that I just switched my locale to Japan and saved myself a lot of time down the line. (At least when I was still using xp)

Does the sound work/sound right if you run hanabira.exe rather than hanabira-en.exe? I hadn't done -anything- with the sound files, so it's possible the audio archive file you have is corrupt somehow.
(BTW, this patch doesn't modify the original game files in the slightest - you can play the original game in Japanese right from the same directory.)

The main issue I noted with Vista and Windows 7 was that the game would often lock up when minimizing the game or switching to another program. My suggested solution: if it breaks when you do that, then DON'T DO THAT! :P
Why aren't you playing the game fullscreen anyway? :)

I think Christian meant that, what they did say and you had translated was totally of, but it seems it was his mistake, as he said.
I finished the game btw, and i can say that only in 1 or 2 phrases i was thinking of another translation. (From the ones that where spoken though, i didn't know what the Japanese were when she was narrating/thinking)
Overall, good job!

I'm quite speechless, never expected to actually be able to read this title.
I'm a big fan of fuguriya's releases so its even better then stumbling across a translation of a release that I've never heard of. I can't properly kiss your ass enough for this, thank you so much! ;)
btw, will this be your primary site from now on? Just want to make sure that if you tackle a different project by this artist I don't miss it.
Thanks again for your hard work.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. I feel bad, I just found out about this project a couple weeks ago so I was just around for the best part, and I never had the chance to give encouragement along the way.
I know translating all this must me VERY time consuming, so really, thank you. It's something you didn't have to do but you took time out of your life to do something for like-minded people like myself. And now we all get to enjoy this game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
Thanks again! I know what I am doing tonight.

Yeah, it did nag me a bit, but having the nag patch installed (removes the nag window from shortcuts) and also the context menu option (right click -> run under Japanese locale) means running this game under Applocale is really fast to do. :)

@Mokou-tan:
lol, you do know there are two more games after the first six? #7 was released a couple months ago (it deals with an entireley new couple, a teacher and her student, and several amazing new songs), and #8 is still being developed...these ones actually require DirectX i think, because of the sound quality

@nam: You have to transfer all the files in each zip folder to the folder in which all the game files were put/installed, then you run Hanabira-en.exe. If you are still having trouble, email me at saberfangecchi@aol.com and I will personally walk you through, if you want.

A couple of weeks ago I emailed you regarding an installer I put together for this patch. Haven't heard anything from you and I'm wondering if maybe it got filtered as spam or something since it had a few links in it.
The whole installer, which installs your patch, copying and updating files from the original game, weighs in at only about 2.5mb. When you run it it will ask you to locate the original game files, and does the necessary things such as writing an uninstaller and setting up a start menu entry etc. I was able to exploit the fact that your graphics patch is fairly large but the actual amount of changes are small, and create a patch file to complete the process. The patch is against the dlsite version of the game, so if the retail release had a different graphics file it probably won't work with that, though it wouldn't be that hard to compensate. This also has the benefit of ensuring that the patch gets installed against the correct game, since there's getting to be a fair few.
Anyway, you can grab the installer here (~2.5mb)
As I said in the email I sent originally, I don't want to steal your thunder or anything so if you want me to take it down again I'll do so. Also if you want to make any tweaks / changes I'm happy to throw you the scripts etc necessary to generate the installer. :) I hope this proves useful.

Excellent news! I didn't even know a translation was being worked on, but I'm floored to have suddenly come across this by chance! There are far too few yuri games out there, let alone ones this appealing, so I'm really, really glad to see this!
Any chance after a break you may work on the other games in the series? :D?
