Of bad choices and bad endings...
Warning: some spoilers ahead - don't read this post if you haven't played the game through at least once.
Some clarification about the end of the game and how the choices made during the game affect things.
The proper end of the game is not the 'itadakimasu' scene in the bath. If the game ends there, you need to play again and make different choices at the branch points. Yes, the game could have made this much clearer - I thought it was the real end of the story my first time through too.
I actually went through and mapped out the entire decision tree of the game, to see how it all worked. Basically, each decision point has a 'right' and 'wrong' answer. If you make more than one 'wrong' choice, the game ends abruptly after the bath scene. However, if you get three or four 'right', the game continues for another three chapters to the 'real' end of the game.
Here's a few thought of mine about the right answers:
#1 - Yuuna's request is reasonable, so why not agree? Plus you don't want to allow her to realize how easily she can emotionally manipulate Nanami.
#2 - Yuuna's actions were out of line and was risking letting out their secret, but she honestly didn't realize. Just explain it to her gently so she'll actually understand. If things get angry, Yuuna will still agree, but only in order to calm Nanami down.
#3 - Again, Yuuna needs to be told that she's out of line here. Telling her might upset her a bit, but Nanami does need to learn how to set limits when Yuuna gets out of control.
#4 - This is for deciding Nanami's attitude I think - being impressed with Yuuna's room will make her more willing to stick around 'just in case' something bad happens later.

Oh well, I guess now that it's out, everybody has downloaded it and is busy "playing", this is going to be a lonely place for a while... :(
(In hindsight, maybe I should have bought some stocks in a vibrator or battery company before release....)

I was thinking of skipping quickly through all the choices so I could reply to the thoughts you posted.
Then while looking at the first I thought "screw this, another complete read-through would be fun"
Then my brain decided to hyper-actively dissect everything I was reading, which in no way diminishes ones enjoyment of the story (quite the contrary) but does compel one to find an outlet.
So now you get to read my random rambling while doing a second playthrough.
You have only yourself to blame.

??? starts off by stressing out that she's not cute. Delicious irony here since in about 10 minutes someone special is going to disagree in spectacular fashion.
I love the subversion of a common Japanese trope where the protagonist puts forth extreme effort while following their hearts desire. (eg. First Love Sisters) Most people do it for love. Nanami does it for bunnytail ribbons ^^
Admits she's pretty stubborn. Thinking back, this doesn't seem true where Yuna is concerned, as Nanami is perfectly happy to compromise or cave completely on occasion. Outside the relationship, that stubbornness will probably serve her well as a lesbian.
In some ways it's a pity that the game is so focused on the main characters. Nanami's mother is either very good, or pure evil.

Yuuna's voice is beautiful. Normally when conveying a concept you can show or tell but showing is preferable and both is bad form (shounen does this a lot, highly irritating) but in this case what Nanami tells is her perception of Yuuna's voice (it is very gentle), verses just describing it. Her perception is subtly different from my own which paradoxically makes me empathize more with her character. I might be over-thinking this, but it's an interesting exception to the normal rules.
"A vision of the Virgin mary herself"
This thing's such a Marimite parody. :D
Who knew mending a dress could be erotic. Also note that it's a tight-fitting dress, and pains would have to be taken to keep fabric and needle away form skin... Lets face it, Yuuna's copping a feel, lol.
AND putting the moves on the freshman at the same time, that takes skill.

More hat-tips to Maria-sama ga Miteru. With the amount of physical intimacy that gets expressed later on, you'd almost think someone was overcompensating for the (near) complete lack of hormones in Marimite.
Girl A reminds me of Alicia from Aria. Never did see much of the 3rd season, knowing how it all ends was heartbraking.
For some reason I totally expected Girl A and B to get all snobbish about Nanami's commoner tendencies. Hearing them react in a human manner was a pleasant surprise.
Nanami gets turned on just from thinking that Yuuna would be the chairman? I guess this means that wealth and power are turn-ons for her which isn't unrealistic, but seems oddly cynical. The story overall is a weird mix of fantasy and realism.

Ah, first typo. I'm sure /u/ and others have probably mentioned them but I'll note them down just in case. Think there's only two or three little ones.
Apparently studies have shown that most people are more likely to display immoral behavior when given a position of power. Evolution has a lot to answer for.
Nanami is still speaking of Yuuna in reverential tones. I'm taking an almost sadistic pleasure in anticipating the surprise she's in for. This chapter isn't called "shock" for no reason :D
When asked if everything's ok Nanami's thoughts immediately turn to food. It's completely random and Yuuna's puzzled reply is perfect. I really am curious to know if the voice actors where professional or volunteers.
"She liked me a little bit at least"
Just a little, lol.
Thassa 'nough for today. I shall return (maybe)

So here we are, perched at the brink of a swirling maelstrom of lust and passion which will consume vast swathes of the remainder of this VN. It's notable here that Nanami reveals she regularly masturbates, disabusing any notion the reader may have that she is a complete innocent. The pace and knowledge of sex displayed in future chapters would seem unrealistic for an innocent, but less so for someone with a developed (even if only through self-exploration) sexuality.
It's nice that even with limited time, comedic overtones and a heavy focus on sex and eroticism, the author still makes an effort to build realistic characters.
And Yuuna gets caught. Can't help but wonder what would have happened if Nanami didn't accidentally advertise her presence. How long would she have watched for? ^^
My first guess on what Yuuna's reaction would be, is that she would try to run away crying. (ah, I could be projecting... lets not think about that too much) but then there's a short stretch where she's just standing there with a "dark look on her face" and her tone of voice changes subtly each time she speaks, so you're really left in suspense about what reaction she is going to have, especially when she "drew closer" (menacingly?) So it's like there are four or five different emotional cues that all turn out to be red herrings as her final reaction is nothing like what the reader was imagining. Not surprising since it's the first time we see Yuuna's hidden personality.
Or maybe it's just me who thinks that scene is brilliant. Even the second time around I couldn't remember her reaction, so it was as much a surprise as the first time.
What an epic reaction it is too. Yuuna breaks completely, her world has come to an end and she's determined to finish it. With a stapler.
In her panic she only manages to increase her embarrassment tenfold through a bad case of TMI, culminating in the admission that she's been completely out of control since she met Nanami. Implied here is that Nanami should take responsibility for this situation, lol. (which of course she is more then happy to do!)

Would any of you believe me if I told you that I hadn't even HEARD of Marimite, let alone read or watched any of it when I started this project? The original Japanese of that line was the very first time I heard the phrase "Maria-Sama". You can probably imagine what kind of results I got when I googled the name to figure out who it referred to...

I just wanted to say that I finished the game!
I'm pretty sure I got the good ending, where they are kissing.
I feel kind of sad that it's over and I wish that I could play the other ones.

Eh, there's no lack of hormones in marimite, It's just all of them except Sei and Kanina were straight, at an all girls school. I dunno what you'd expect.
